It is said that there are guardians who help the souls of the dead pass to the afterlife and they are called The Soul Keepers. Travelling to where wandering souls call them, they rarely marry or have children. Those who have children train them to become future Soul Keepers and those who have no family, find an apprentice to pass on their knowledge.

They rarely show in front of people as they work through the night when the spirits are active, but there are exceptions when they seek the living to help the spirits find their peace and pass on.

Whether they are human or spirits themselves, nobody could tell as many times spirits could take human shape and form, living normal lives just as any human.

It is also said that a Soul Keeper would announce their arrival by ringing a bell three times and that sound would be heard three days before by people, ghosts, spirits and animals at night and when the chime stops it would be known that they arrived. Once they leave the place they would announce their departure with three rings of the same bell but only for one day, signaling that their job has ended and that the spirit passed on in peace.
